A basic astrological statement about the nature of your being contains four parts.

A Planet in a Sign in a House modified by Aspects.

Your chart is a map of your potential, your possible story as a character in the divine play. The planets (including the luminaries) symbolize the twelve psychological urges or forces of consciousness common to all human beings. The heavens are reflected in living beings, the meeting point for the elements, Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Each planet symbolizes a character or "part" in your unfolding drama. The signs they occupy reveal their motivations and together reveal the plot of your life story. The houses, or realms of life experience, symbolize the stages that the planets act on and through.

The aspects describe the sacred geometry between planets creating a dialogue within your nature. They describe how the characters interact and modify the basic meanings of astrological statements. A person with the Moon in Cancer is one thing. However, if that Cancer Moon is squaring Pluto in Libra you have a totally different situation. Pluto's influence deepens the Moon and intensifies the emotions. Knowledge of aspects, the angular relationships between the planets, separates professional astrologers from amateurs. If you want to master astrology then gain skill interpreting the aspectual modifiers. All you hard-earned aspect wisdom will apply to transits and progressions too!

The key to skillful interpretation lies in seeing the whole. When all the parts of human nature are flowing together an inner spiritual community based on the wisdom of rhythm is created. In most people the astrological "parts" are at odds and sometimes even at war. The key is to study the parts so you can develop a strategy for getting them all working and flowing together as one dynamic whole. The result is an individuated, integrated, holistic, loving, creative, responsible, authentic human being. It only takes one authentic human being to transform the world!

The primary attributes needed to interpret an astrology chart are intelligence, intuition, and creative imagination. Although charisma and inspiration help too! Intelligence allows you to know and understand the meaning of the planets, signs, houses, and aspects. Intuition empowers you to sew the symbols together in your mind's eye and watch them blend miraculously. Creative imagination allows you to create meaning which results in potent interpretations.
